Responding to Jeremy Corbyn's speech this morning laying out Labour's plans to remain in a customs union with the EU, Conservative MEPs' leader Ashley Fox said:
"Jeremy Corbyn's new found enthusiasm for a customs union would be bad for jobs and wages and diminish Britain. It would prevent us signing free trade deals with countries across the globe, bind us to the EU's system of tariffs and hand Brussels complete control of our trade policy.
"Contrast this with the Conservatives' approach of negotiating the world's most comprehensive free trade deal with our EU partners while seizing the opportunities that Brexit presents."
