It was a pleasure to welcome Phil Rowe (Newton Abbot Town Clerk), Mike Hocking (Independent District Councillor) and Colin Parker (Lib Dem District Councillor) to Westminster on Tuesday to speak to Communities and Local Government minister Marcus Jones. We were able to discuss the recent Local Government Finance Settlement and the ways in which Newton Abbot Town Council can raise funds for vital services.

Phil, Mike and Colin also got the opportunity to show the minister some of the great work that has been done locally by the council including the plans for the new community hub. Our local councillors do an amazing job and I was happy the minister recognised the work they were doing to improve our local area.
